Iran vs the US

Tehran, May 29: Iranian authorities have said on Tuesday Tehran is willing to engage and hold dialogues with the Gulf nations, including the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Saudi Arabia, in order to address rising United States-Iran issue in the Arabian Gulf.

According to ANI news reports, Iranian deputy foreign minister Abbas Araqchi’s remarks came during his official visit to Qatar where he met with his Qatari counterpart Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani in capital Doha.

Qatari foreign ministry’s official statement was cited by Al-Jazeera, stating two sides “expressed their concern about escalations and problems in the region”.

Tensions have escalated between Tehran, alongside Washington and its Gulf allies. Earlier this month, US President Donald Trump announced it was deploying additional 5,000 American troops to the Middle East, as well, it has deployed bombers and carrier strike group to the Arabian Gulf.

Meanwhile, US national security advisor John Bolton on Tuesday arrived in the UAE before meetings scheduled to take place on Wednesday.

In a tweet, Bolton said, “Just landed in the UAE. Looking forward to meeting with our Emirati allies tomorrow to discuss important and timely regional security matters.”
