Iran has slammed the European Union accusing it of hostile activities or “assassination attempts, terrorist plots in Europe”, the Iranian foreign ministry has said on Tuesday.

In an official statement, the Iranian foreign ministry wrote: “The unsubstantiated accusations, such as with regard to assassination attempts and attempted terrorist attacks in Europe, have been groundless and surprising from the very beginning. We are disappointed with such accusations and concerns of the Europeans, while in Europe itself terrorist and criminal groups are being active.”

According to Sputnik news reports, Tehran has gone on to state that he hoped that Brussels would be realistically approaching the issue of terrorism, unlike those who have used “double standards”.

While responding to the bloc’ concern over Iranian desire to increase the range of its missiles and also its accuracy, the foreign ministry has said that Iranian activities were much exclusively defensive.

The European Union (EU) has on Monday imposed sanctions on two individuals and also one entity related to the Iranian “hostile activities” in various European nations. The European Union Council also has called on Tehran to halt its activities aimed at the development of its ballistic missile programmes.

Earlier, the Intelligence Services (PET) and the Danish Security had accused its Iranian ally of attempting to plot an assassination of an Iranian left group member in Denmark.
