The High Court of Islamabad will hear the bail plea of the jailed former Pakistan’s Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday, on grounds of Sharif’s failing health.

According to ANI reports, the two-member judge bench, compromised of Justice Mohsin Akhter Kiyani and Justice Aamer Farooq, will further hear a petition by Sharif seeking suspension of the seven-year prison sentence pronounced by an apex court in last year’s December in Lahore, The Express Tribune reported.

Sharif’s lawyer Khawaja Haris has on Saturday, filed a petition seeking bail for the Pak’s former prime minister on medical grounds.

The IHC (Islamabad High Court) had earlier fixed a date to hear appeals of Sharif on February 18, who has been sentenced for seven-year in jail in the Al-Azizia steel mills corruption case. He was detained in Kot Lakhpat jail in Lahore.

Last week, a medical penal had made a recommendation that Sharif should be moved to a hospital for “optimal management” of his failing health, including several changes in Sharif’s medication to treat his high blood pressure (BP) and diabetes, including some further medical tests.

In a report, the board has added that former minister has a past medical history of Type 2 diabetes, kidney stone disease, ischemic heart disease, and hypertension.
