Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said on Tuesday he intends to announce a fresh settlement – a resolution calling for the new community – in the annexed Golan Heights after United States President Donald Trump made his historic decision to recognize Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights.
Netanyahu took it to his official Twitter handle and wrote: “I’m here on the beautiful Golan Heights. All Israelis were deeply moved when President Trump made his historic decision to recognize Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights.”

He continued tweeting: “Therefore, after the Passover holiday, I intend to bring to the government a resolution calling for a new community on the Golan Heights named after President Donald J. Trump.”
Trump has on March 22 said its time for America to fully recognize Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights. In a tweet, US president wrote: “After 52 years it is time for the United States to fully recognise Israel’s Sovereignty over the Golan Heights, which is of critical strategic and security importance to the State of Israel and Regional Stability!”
Last month, Trump inked a proclamation recognizing Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights, which Israel had annexed from Syria during a civil war in 1981 after seizing it in 1967.
Syria has criticized Trump’s comments on recognizing Israel’s sovereignty over the occupied Golan Heights as “irresponsible”.
According to BBC news reports, a statement by the Syrian state news agency has said the country accused Trump of “blind bias” towards Israel. It said Syria was much determined to recover the region “through all available means”.
