Brasilia, Sep 3: Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro is expected to not address a scheduled summit on Amazon fires that have ravaged Amazon rainforests and states in order to get ready for surgery an aide has said on Tuesday.

Bolsonaro will go for his fourth operation following his 2018 stabbing during his presidential election campaign.

According to BBC news reports, Brazil is likely to send its representative, replacing Bolsonaro’s place, or would call to halt the summit and reschedule, the government’s spokesperson said.

The operation is scheduled for Sunday and the doctors have said he would need a 10-day rest after the surgery.

Interacting with reporters near his presidential residence, Bolsonaro pledged on Monday to protect his Amazon policy “even in a wheelchair” at the September 24 United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

“I will appear because I want to talk about the Amazon,” he said.

The Brazilian president has also blamed other countries for colonizing the 20 million dollars offer to assist in tackling the wildfires in the Amazon rainforests.
