A day after Tokyo’s apex court granted bail to former Nissan chairman Carlos Ghosn, the ex-chairman walked out of the prison on Wednesday. The Japan court has set Ghosn’s bail at USD 9 million and applied the bail condition requiring Ghosn not to leave Japan.

According to ANI news reports, Ghosn, surrounded by guards, had left the detention centre wearing a face mask, revealing little of his face.

The previous bail request by Ghosn’s lawyers had been rejected, leading former Nissan chief spending its 108 days in arrest.

Also, the court has set another bail condition which includes installing a camera at the entrance of Ghosn’s house. Though he can use his computer at his lawyer’s office, Ghosn has been blocked to use internet over his phone.

Ghosn is awaiting a trial over alleged charges of aggravated breach of trust as well as underreporting his annual income. On the other hand, Ghosn will continue its in-house probe into the misunderstanding of funds along with any other improprieties by him.

Findings from the investigation will be reported this month to the board of directors. The Japanese carmaker company, Nissan may seek damage compensations from its former chairman.

However, if Ghosn is found guilty over the charges levelled against him in the court procedures, he may have to suffer 15-year imprisonment in jail.
