London, July 1: A team set up to back British political opposition Labour Paty leader Jeremy Corbyn has launched a formal campaign trying to oust the member of parliament Boris Johnson, a favourite contender to become next British Prime Minister, from his seat, the group said on Monday.

According to Reuters news reports, Momentum, the group, stated it would be sending hundreds of Corbyn supporters to the electoral district of Johnson later July in western London to “unseat” him.

Johnson has received just 5,034 votes in favour, holding a small majority under his constituency, making him more vulnerable to its opposition parties willing to “unseat” him in a fresh national poll, which might be held earlier than due until 2022, in order to break an impasse over Britain’s withdrawal from the European Union (EU).

Becky Boumelha, a member of Momentum’s National Coordinating Group, said, “Now we’re launching a campaign to make sure Johnson goes down in history as the first sitting prime minister to lose his seat.”

“At the last election we slashed his majority in half, and now even Tories (Conservatives) admit his seat is vulnerable to a surge in young voters at the next election.”

The ex-London mayor and foreign minister won over several Conservatives Party’s backing by vowing to leave the bloc as scheduled on October 31 with or without any deal.
