Islamabad, June 8: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan has on Friday wrote a letter to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating his country seeks talks with New Delhi in efforts to resolve standstill issues between two neighbour nation.

According to ANI news reports, Khan’s letter to Modi came a day after India ruled out any possibilities of a direct bilateral meeting between the two nation on the sidelines of SCO summit, scheduled to take place this month in Bishkek.

Goe News reported the Pakistan PM reiterated his wish for stability and peace in the South Asian region, also underlined the importance of jointly working together for the two sides for regional development.

During a weekly media briefing on Thursday, MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar has said, “To the best of my knowledge no meeting has been planned between PM Modi and Pakistan PM Imran Khan at the SCO Summit in Bishkek.”

Khan had last month congratulated Modi for his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) victory in the Lok Sabha Elections 2019 for the straight second term.

Ahead of the general election polls, Khan had claimed if Modi won the polls then there might be a good chance of peace talks with New Delhi.

Tensions between Pakistan and India have soured after the Pulwama terror attack on February 14 in Jammu and Kashmir which claimed the lives of 44 CRPF personnel. The attack was claimed by Pakistan-based and backed Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) chief Masood Azhar.
