Hong Kong, Sep 3: Hong Kong leader Carrie Lam is likely to announce the formal withdrawal of a controversial Extradition Bill later on Wednesday, that sparked the three-month mass protests in the nation, according to South China Morning Post news report, citing unnamed sources.

As per the local media outlets, they also reported a possible formal withdrawal of the bill. Lam’s office, however, did not offer remark to a request for comment, Reuters reported.

The withdrawal of extradition bill, which if passed would allow suspects in Hong Kong to be sent to mainland China for further court prosecution, is one of the famous demand of anti-government movements that have plunged the Chinese-ruled territory into its deepest turmoil in decades.
