Madagascar former President Marc Ravalomanana and a man who defeated him in 2009 and became president of Madagascar, Andry Rajoelina, on Wednesday, competed in order to become the island next state’s leader in run-off election.

Madagascar is seeking for the second peaceful election since the Madagascar political crisis and chaos, that has erupted when Marc was forced to leave the office by a protest which was led by Andry Rajoelina, who then went on to take on the top job.

According to news reports, a 21-year-old student Haja Hasina, after the vote session, said, “I hope that the next president of the republic will bring the development for the country, bring security and allow the children’s education.”

When both the ex-president entered the vote race, both Marc and Hey promised to leave behind the past and said that they would now accept whatever result would be as they cast their own ballots in the capital of Madagascar, Antananarivo.

Rajoelina said, “Even if it is a rainy season, the sun is shining today. I hope the sun shall shine on Madagascar.” He further added saying, “In case of vote rigging, it won’t be from our side, I am a democrat and if I lose I will accept the decision.”

Marc expressed his confidence by saying that he is confident that he could change the nation. He said, “Of course, I will accept the results. But obviously there should be respect to laws of the game.”

Ministry of defence said soldiers has been deployed across the nation to ensure the security during poll period. General Beni Xavier Rasolofonirina said, “I call on the Malagasy to defend their choice, not to let the two candidates and their supporters do the job, come and vote and then assist and monitor the counting of votes.”

According to news reports, in November, in the first round of the election, Marc got 35.35 percent of vote and Andry got 39.23 percent of vote in his favour.
