Venezuelan legitimate president Nicolas Maduro has thanked his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin as well as the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) for the humanitarian aid supplies to the crisis-torn nation.

According to Sputnik news reports, during his an address which was aired by his Periscope channel on Thursday, Maduro said, “I would like to express my deep gratitude to the Pan American Health Organization and President Vladimir Putin for these opportunities, for the stability of medical supplies. They are arriving constantly, every week.” Maduro noted these supplies were not a pro bono.

Maduro pointed out: “Who pays for that? The Venezuelan government does. We repay all our obligations.” He recalled that 7.5 tonnes of medicines aid have arrived in Venezuela from Russia.

Maduro explained that such supplies have helped develop country’s system of imports, further noting that Venezuela was living “in the conditions of the blockade and persecution from the imperialistic government of the United States in terms of finances and economy”.

Maduro noted that Turkey, China, Cuba, India and Palestine were also among those nations that have provided Venezuela with humanitarian aids.

The Venezuelan nutrition ministry has on Thursday said, the government had received 300 tonnes of supplies (food and medical equipment) from Russia amid a political and economic crisis in the Latin American nation.

A diplomatic source told Sputnik on Wednesday Russia had delivered humanitarian aids to the Caracas airport.

Maduro has said Venezuela has agreed to accept humanitarian aid from the European Union.

Maduro said: “Vice President [Delcy Rodriguez] held an important meeting with the EU contact group and accepted an offer for funding worth 2 billion euros [$2.3 billion] in technical humanitarian aid via the UN system.”
