Thimphu [Bhutan], August 16: Arrangements to invite Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi are at present in progress in Bhutan, as the Himalayan country riggings to respect the pioneer for an official two-day visit from August 17 to 18.

On August 17, Modi will touch base at the Paro International Airport following which he will make a beeline for the Semtokha Dzong.

He will likewise be accorded the guard of respect when he visits the Tashichhodzong around the same time. At the Dzong, the Prime Minister will meet the King of Bhutan, or the ‘Druk Gyalpo’, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck. The Chhipdrel Procession will likewise occur to pay tribute to Modi.

Gatherings are planned to be held at the Gyalyong Tshokhang, following which the MoUs will be agreed upon. He is additionally scheduled to meet the fourth ruler of Bhutan, Jigme Singye Wangchuk, on Saturday.

“With the upcoming visit, the stem sector is, particularly in focus. The Royal University of Bhutan shall be signing four MoUs, one each with IIT Delhi, Bombay and Kanpur and with NIIT Silchar … This is a very positive development in the stem subjects,” the Indian ambassador to Bhutan, Ruchira Kamboj told ANI in Thimphu.

On the second day of his visit, he will address the understudies at the Royal University of Bhutan.
