New Delhi, August 22: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi emplaned for Paris on Thursday on the first leg of his three-nation visit to United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain and France from August 22-26.

Modi will reach France late on Thursday and slated to straightaway head to dialogues with French President Emmanuel Macron, expected to host a lavish dinner for the Indian prime minister at the Chateau de Chantilly – a 19th-century location situated 60 kilometers from Paris in Oise.

In France, Modi is slated to address the Indian diaspora in the French capital Paris and expected to unveil the memorial for the Indian national victims of the Air India plane crash at Nid D’Aigle.

In a statement before leaving for Paris, Modi said, “My visit to France reflects the strong strategic partnership, which our two countries deeply value, and share. On 22-23 August 2019, I would have bilateral meetings in France, including a summit interaction with President Emmanuel Macron and a meeting with Prime Minister Philippe.”

He added, “India and France have excellent bilateral ties, which are reinforced by a shared vision to cooperate for further enhancing peace and prosperity for our two countries and the world at large. Our strong strategic and economic partnership is complemented by a shared perspective on major global concerns such as terrorism, climate change, etc.”

On August 23, Modi will visit the UAE on the second leg of his trip and hold a bilateral meeting with Abu Dhabi crown prince, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al Nahyan.

He said, “During the visit to the UAE on Aug 23-24, I look forward to discuss with his highness the crown prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al Nahyan, the entire gamut of bilateral relations and regional and international issues of mutual interest.”
