Osaka, June 28: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has on Friday held a bilateral meeting with Angela Merkel, the German Chancellor, on the sidelines of the Group of 20 (G20) summit held in Osaka, Japan, and discussing bolstering cooperation in skill development, railway modernization, cybersecurity, E-mobility, and artificial intelligence.

In a tweet, Modi said, “Had detailed discussions with Chancellor Merkel. There is immense scope for even stronger relations with Germany in areas such as technology and infrastructure. Deepening cultural ties is also a key focus area.”

Raveesh Kumar, the spokesperson for the Indian ministry of external affairs, took it to Twitter to announce the development.

The prime minister is on an official three-day visit to Osaka to attend the 14th session of the G20 summit. After arriving in Japan, Modi has held a bilateral meeting with Saudi Arabia crown prince Mohammed bin Salman, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, South Korean President Moon Jae-in, and United States President Donald Trump.

Modi has also held a trilateral meeting with the US president and Japanese leader. BRICS leaders also held their summit and called for bridging the global imbalances and for financial and trade stability.

BRICS leaders also condemned the terrorist acts around the world and further reaffirmed their commitment to battling against harbouring, financing terrorism and terrorist groups.
