Australian conservative party government has on Monday said it will hike spending over rural infrastructure nearly by 30 per cent in its 2019 fiscal year budget before an election scheduled next month.
According to Reuters news reports, while speaking before one day before the presentation of 2019 fiscal year budget for the new year beginning from July 1, the country’s Prime Minister Scott Morrison said fundings for rural roads will be increased from the A $3.5 billion, which he has pledged last year, to A $4.5 million.
However, Morrison denied that the hike in spendings was motivated by an election, stating that it formed a part of the government’s strategy of decentralization.
In Canberra, the prime minister told reporters, “We are committed to the satellite cities approach,” further adding, “We’ve made investments of tens of millions of dollars in supporting our communities to grow together, not grow apart.”
