India’s President Ram Nath Kovind on Tuesday, announced that Myanmar would be providing visa-on-arrival to the Indian tourists, in order to boost the relation and people-to-people relation between India-Myanmar.

Kovind declared this decision made by Myanmar on his five-day official visit to Myanmar, which aims for continuation of India’s high-level engagements and relation with Myanmar, which comes under the act of “Act East Policy” and “Neighbourhood First Policy”.

In a tweet, the president’s office tweeted: “Coinciding with President Kovind’s visit, and to further people-to-people relations, Myanmar has also announced a visa-on-arrival facility for Indian tourists entering the country through the international airports of Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon and Mandalay.”

The recent agreement was particularly welcomed by the residents of northeast region of India and are starting to reap the benefits which is going to be come, of the Land-border crossing agreement, said India’s president.

The Land Border Crossing Agreement landmark between India and Myanmar which was signed on the 11th of May in 2018, was brought under the process by Myanmar in the month of August with the opening of an international entry-exit checkpoints, simultaneously, at the borders – Tamu-Moreh border and the Rihkhawdar-Zowkhawtar border which is between the two nations – India and Myanmar.

President Kovind said, “They look forward to the early conclusion of the Motor Vehicles Agreement,”

According to news reports, several more agreements are expected to be signed by these two nations in order to tighten its nation’s ties.
