India has on Saturday said that if Pakistan claims to become a “Naya Pakistan” with “nayi soch”, then it should express “naya action” against terrorism, its outfits and infrastructure operating from its soil and also close cross-border terrorism in support of its claim.

According to Times of India news reports, the ministry of external affairs spokesperson Raveesh Kumar, during a media briefing, said it was a non-military strike on Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terror outfit in Balakot which achieved its desired objective and also demonstrated the nation’s firm resolve to implement decisive actions against cross-border terrorism.

MiG-21 Bison, an Indian Air Force (IAF), piloted by wing commander Abhinandan Varthaman, was shot down by Pakistan Air Force F-16 fighter jet and there were electronic evidence and eyewitness accounts for it, said MEA spokesperson.

Kumar said, “We have also shared evidence in the form of parts of AMRAAM missile + which were recovered from the site and are only carried by F-16 aircraft of the PAF.”

He added, “Our non-military counter-terrorism strike achieved the desired objective. It has demonstrated our firm resolve to take decisive action against cross border terrorism.”

He said only one Indian fighter jet was lost during an aerial clash with PAF. He also said that if, as Islamabad claims, it has evidence of downing IAF jet then why it has not shared it yet.

Kumar said it is unfortunate that Islamabad still denies that JeM had claimed to carry out a suicide bombing attack in Jammu and Kashmir on Indian paramilitary – the Pulwama terror attack – which claimed the lives of about 44 CRPF personnel.

He asserted Pakistan-based terror outfits carry out several attacks and conduct their activities without any government hindrance.

Pakistan must show credible, verifiable and sustained action against terror groups operating from its soil, he said.
