Seoul, May 27: North Korean foreign ministry has on Monday termed “inordinately ignorant” to United States national security advisor John Bolton’s argument that Pyongyang’s recent missile tests have violated the United Nations resolutions.

The statement was carried by state-run KCNA news agency which quoted a foreign ministry spokesperson as saying giving up missiles tests against the US would directly mean giving up the right to self-defense.

According to Reuters news reports, the spokesperson noted Bolton, who has last week said the recent missile tests “no doubt” violated the UN resolution. The spokesperson added Bolton, a target of Pyongyang’s condemnation, is currently working on more to destabilize peace and security rather than maintaining security.

The spokesperson stated, “Bolton is taking issue with normal military exercises conducted by our armed forces as a violation of U.N. Security Council ‘resolutions’,” adding, “This is inordinately ignorant.”

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has earlier in May oversaw numbers of missiles and rocket test-fired, including various guided missiles which the experts believe could be used to penetrate American and South Korean defences.

However, the move was deemed by the White House with President Donald Trump stating the tests were short range and hence no breach of trust by Kim.

But, White House national security advisor and the Japanese government have claimed the missile tests were a clear violation of the UN resolution.

Bolton is known in the United States “as a war fanatic who whispers war into the ear of the president,” the spokesman said.

Monday’s KCNA statement said, “Whatever is launched is bound to fly drawing a ballistic trajectory.”

“To demand the ban of any launch that uses the ballistic technology, rather than talk about the range, is akin to saying we should renounce our sovereignty,” the spokesperson stated.
