Representatives of Baloch, Hazara, and Pashtun communities along with a team of a delegation of Mohajirs have held a detailed meeting on Friday, with the US Congressperson Rob Wittman in Washington to discuss the human rights violations as well discrimination being faced in Pakistan by their communities.

According to ANI news reports, the Voice of Karachi and South Asia Minorities Alliance Foundation chairperson Nadeem Nusrat has led the group in the United States. Nusrat, especially, pointed out the “devastating economic and social impact of the highly discriminatory quota system” in the urban Sindh that has pushed the majority urban citizen population to step down from government jobs and out of admissions in the public education colleges or institutions since1970s.

During their meeting, Nusrat told the US lawmakers: “You could find people of Lahore and Rawalpindi and other cities in their local police. But you’d find it hard to find the citizens of Karachi, Hyderabad, and Mirpurkhas in their cities’ local police and other law enforcement agencies.”

In a Twitter post, Nadeem Nusrat wrote: “With Senator Marco Rubio and recently re-elected Congressman Rob Wittman. Met with them to appraise the US lawmakers of human rights violations in #Pakistan against Mohajirs and other ethnic and religious minorities.”

While claiming that the urban majority is being ruled by a fake rural population that poses threat to urban areas, Nusra said: “Persistent and organized rigging in the census and electoral constituencies have left the urban population disenfranchised. The urban majority is ruled by a fake rural population that threat urban areas as its colonies.”

Nusrat further highlighted the details of the acts of human rights violations, extrajudicial killings, arbitrary arrest, enforced disappearances and physical torture in urban Singh with Wittman. Also, he shared details of greater Karachi plans with the US House member, which the Voice of Karachi has recently declared in the media briefing in Washington.

Baloch, Hazara and Pashtun representatives have also presented the details of the human rights violation in their region (respective) with Wittman. They also handed over several documents citing details of brutalities, which various religious and ethnic groups are facing by security forces in Islamabad.

Wittman reaffirmed his full support for the victims of human right violations and further assured them that he will continue to voice these issues in the US Congress, including other relevant forums.
