Pakistan has called back Sohail Mahmood, High Commissioner to India, “for consultation” on Monday, days after India lodged a strong protest against Islamabad regarding the Pulwama terror attack which has led to the death of about 44 Indian CRPF personnel on February 14.

In a tweet, Pakistan’s ministry of foreign affairs spokesperson Mohammad Faisal, on February 18, wrote: “We have called back our High Commissioner in India for consultations. He left New Delhi this morning.”

According to ANI news reports, Pakistan’s this move came after a horrific terrorist attack on Indian paramilitary bus on February 14, for which Pakistan-backed and based Jaish e-Mohammad (JeM) claimed the responsibility, claiming the lives of around 44 CRPF personnel.

Indian foreign secretary Vijay Gokhale has on February 15 summoned Pakistan’ Mahmood Qureshi and issued a strong protest in connection with the terror attack, further conveying that Islamabad must take verifiable and immediate actions against JeM.

The United States had already told Pakistan to stop offering safe haven and support to the terrorist organization in the wake of Pulwama attack in India-occupied Kashmir.

However, Pakistan refused all allegations levelled against it over the terrorist attack on India paramilitary.

Several international communities have since condemned Pakistan for this terror attack with many countries extending assistance to India fighting against terrorism.
