Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has said on Tuesday, the country had chosen a “measured response” to India’s airstrikes of February 26 by bombing an empty region just across the Indian border.

According to ANI news reports, interacting with a group of international journalists, the prime minister said he was awakened at 3:30 am by a phone call on February 26 when a military official reported him that IAF had just crossed the Pakistani border and also had conducted airstrikes on Pakistan’s soil.

Khan said Pakistan chose a “measured response” and had bombed an empty region across the Indian border.

Khan was quoted by The New York Times as saying, “They hit our trees, so we thought we would hit their stones.” He stated these comments while speaking over his eight-month completion of office.

IAF and PAF air clash was prompted by a suicide bombing attack on February 14 in Jammu and Kashmir, claimed by Pakistan based and backed Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terror outfit chief Masood Azhar.

The Pulwama terror attack on Indian paramilitary convoy has led 44 CRPF personnel’s lives to death. After which India launched airstrikes in Balakot over JeM terror outfit’s region.

IAF wing commander Abhinandan Varthaman was captured by Pakistan during an aerial clash, after which Khan announced the release of the pilot on February 28.

On Paris-based FATF threat to sanction and blacklist Pakistan, Khan has said, “We can’t afford to be blacklisted.”
