Islamabad, June 1: Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan and Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani have on Friday exchanged views on the Afghan peace process and bilateral relations in a meeting on the sidelines of the 14th OIC summit (Organization of Islamic Cooperation).

According to Dawn news reports, PM Khan reaffirmed Islamabad’s commitment during interacting with President Ghani to a stable and peaceful Afghanistan, as per a statement from Pakistan’s PM office.

Moreover, Khan underlined Pakistan’s consistent support for an Afghan-owned and Afghan-led peace process in the region to put an end to the 18-year-old Afghan war and for the political settlement in the war-torn region.

Ghani is expected to pay an official visit to Pakistan in few coming weeks. Ghani-s visit would offer an opportunity to focus on people-to-people, security, political and economic aspects of Afghanistan-Pakistan relations.

During a meeting between Khan and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi on the sidelines of the OIC summit, both sides agreed to enhance and deepen cooperation in all sectors and increase bilateral exchanges and political contacts frequency.

Both leaders exchanged views on international, regional and bilateral matters and addressed issues being faced by Ummah.

Khan along with his team of delegations comprising Foreign Secretary Sohail Mehmood, Tourism Minister Atif Khan, Special Assistant to PM Naeemul Haq,  Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM Mahmood Khan and Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar offered prayers at Masjidul Haram.

Earlier, after a brief stay at Madina, the prime minister travelled to Jeddah where he offered prayers and paid respects at Masjid-i-Nabavi.
