Pakistan’s foreign office, on Wednesday, has expressed disappointment over the Indian government’s decision not issuing visas to Islamabad’s journalists travelling to Kartarpur Corridor to cover tomorrow’s meeting.
According to Dawn news reports, Pakistani and Indian officials will have a meeting at Attari, near Amritsar, for which a team of Pakistani delegation will visit India on March 23. This meeting will be followed by a visit of an Indian delegation to Islamabad on March 28.
In a tweet, the ministry of foreign affairs spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal said: “Regrettable that #India has not given visas to #Pakistani journalists for the #kartarpur meeting tomorrow. Hope the #PakKartarpurSpirit & meeting tomorrow will bring a change for the better for people of both countries.”

In another tweet, while noting that above 30 Indian journalists had covered the corridor ceremony, Faisal wrote: “More than 30 Indian journalists covered the Kartarpur groundbreaking ceremony in Pakistan last year. They also met PM & were hosted by FM for a dinner during their stay #PakKartarpurSpirit.”

In January, the Pakistan government had presented its draft of a proposed deal on the Kartarpur corridor with the Indian government and called to initiate the negotiation for its finalization. In February, the two countries, after little wrangling over the venue for the talks, had agreed in principle on reciprocal visits of officials for negotiating and finalising the agreement.
