Pak summons Gaurav Ahluwalia alleged LoC ceasefire violation

New Delhi, Sep 30: Pakistan has on Monday summoned Gaurav Ahluwalia, the Indian deputy high commissioner, over alleged truce violations by Indian armed forces along the Line of Control (LoC).

Pakistan claimed two civilians – 13-year-old Zeeshan Ayub and 60-year-old Salamat Bibi, were killed during the alleged ceasefire violation, while three other individuals were injured due to sustained bullet, as reported by Dunya News.

Pakistan’s Foreign Office (FO) said Mohammad Faisal, the director-general of SAARC and South Asia, summoned Ahluwalia and “condemned the unprovoked ceasefire violation” along the LoC on Sep 28 and 29.

Faisal, being a spokesperson for the FO, said due to unprovoked and indiscriminate firing by the Indian troops in Rakhchikri and Nikial sectors, two people lost their lives.

He said the Indian army along with working boundary and LoC have continuously been targeting public areas with heavy-caliber mortars, automatic weapons, and artillery fire.

“This unprecedented escalation in ceasefire violations by India is continuing from the year 2017 when the Indian forces committed 1,970 ceasefire violations,” he said.

He also urged India to follow the 2003 ceasefire agreement; probe all ceasefire violation incidents; direct the Indian side to respect the truce; and maintain peace in the region along the LoC.
