Karachi, August 28: Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) of Pakistan issued a notice on Wednesday to NOTAM (airmen) to partially shut all three routes of the nation’s airspace until August 31, as per Dunya News.

All the international planes have been acknowledged to avoid Karachi airspace’s three aircraft routes. The CAA, however, did not provide any reason for the sudden closure, but has suggested an alternate aviation route, according to ANI.

The announcement comes at a time when Pakistan technology minister Fawad Hussain Choudry said Prime Minister Imran Khan was considering a partial closure of the nation’s airspace to India, adding the administrative cabinet was also planning to impose a ban on India’s trade system with Afghanistan as goods pass through Pakistan to Afghan from India.

In a tweet on Tuesday, Choudhry said, “PM is considering a complete closure of Air Space to India, a complete ban on use of Pakistan Land routes for Indian trade to Afghanistan was also suggested in cabinet meeting, legal formalities for these decisions are under consideration… #Modi has started we’ll finish!”

In the midst of escalating tensions between Pakistan and India over Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government’s decision to scrap Article 370 that provided a special status to Jammu and Kashmir, Islamabad has attempted to downgrade its diplomatic and bilateral relations with New Delhi.
