Pakistan has spun into action and has decided to launch attacks over the terror outfits including Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), led by Masood Azhar, days after the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) – Paris-based global financial watchdog – slammed Islamabad for its inactions, harbouring terrorism, terror funding and money laundering.

According to ANI news reports, during an interview, Pakistani information minister Fawad Chaudhary said the Prime Minister Imran Khan’s government had taken a firm decision that now there would be strict actions against all the terror outfits. He said this was in accordance with the political concord contained in Pak’s National Action Plan (NAP).

However, Chaudhry declined to offer any deadline for the operations against the terror outfits by saying “the timeline was something for the security forces to decide”.

While condemning Pulwama terror attack on Indian paramilitary on February 14, the FATF, in a stern warning has rebuked Islamabad for not doing enough to curb terrorism money laundering and financing.

Soon after FATF’s criticism, Islamabad ordered the re-imposition of the ban over Falah-i-insaniat Foundation (FiF) and Jamaar-ud Dawa (JuD). Pakistan has been on the FATF’s “grey list” between 2012 to 2015 as well.

The FATF is a global financial watchdog which was established in 1989 in order to combat terrorism funding and money laundering and other related threats to the integrity of the international financial system.
