In the wake of the destruction caused by the relocation of the United States embassy in Israel, other countries in the Americas like Guatemala have decided to take sides in the Palestine-Israel war by establishing their embassies in Israel as well. The latest to do so is Paraguay, who opened their new embassy in Jerusalem on the 21st of May, officially choosing the Israeli side in the war.

The President of Paraguay, Horacio Cartes transferred the Paraguayan diplomatic mission from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem in Monday, thereby hinting that they had rejected the Palestinian claim of East Jerusalem becoming the new capital of Israel. Following their footsteps, other Central American and European countries like the Czech Republic, Romania, and Honduras have officially announced their inclination towards shifting their embassies to Jerusalem as well.

Despite the fact that following the merciless killing of 60 Palestinian protesters by Israeli forces triggered a major diplomatic disagreement between many countries, resulting in Turkey expelling their Israeli Ambassador and Consul General and several other neutral countries holding official questioning for their Israeli ambassadors, the US seemed to have sparked the movement of choosing the Israeli side in the war for many countries.

As the streets of Jerusalem by the Malha Technological Park were decorated with the red, white and blue flags, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Cartes inaugurated their embassy at the capital, claiming that their actions were merely to salute the great friend they had found in Israel.
