Canberra, May 20: Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison-led Conservative coalition party has on Monday secured an outright parliamentary majority after a “miraculous” poll victory against the center-left Labour Party, as per the state-run media reports.

According to Reuters news reports, Morrison’s Liberal-National alliance defied the exit polls forecast to be re-elected on Saturday, in what he termed “a political miracle”.

On Monday, the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) stated the prime minister’s alliance has clearly won 76 seats in the Australian parliament – which is comprised of 151 elected lawmakers.

The organization also said Morrison’s coalition was ahead among other three seats which are yet to be declared.

Antony Green, the Australian broadcasting corporation election analyst, said the winning coalition will hold on to power in at least one more seat, remaining in the majority and allowing it to elect a parliamentary speaker.

As investors cheered on Monday, the result sent Australian health-related, property and banking-related stock to an eleven-year high.

After the completion of a bitter and long election campaign, the prime minister stated Australians have had enough of politics.

In Sydney, Morrison told 2GB, “They’ve had their say, they’ve made their decision. Now they expect us to get on with it so they can get on with their life.” He further added, “That’s what the quiet Australians have said and I’m going to honor that.”

After being sworn-in as the Australian Prime Minister, Morrison’s first task will be a reshuffling of a cabinet after the retirement of some front-benchers.

“The cabinet reshuffle will indicate whether he plans to move on polices such as climate change,” said Rodney Tiffen, Emeritus Professor of Political Science, University of Sydney.
