Saudi Arabia’s ruling family plotting against Crown Prince?

Amid international controversy over the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, dozens of members of Saudi Arabia’s ruling family is seeking forward to not see Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman becoming King. Members of ruling family are agitating to prevent Crown Prince from becoming King.

Saudi Arabia’s ruling family members such as Princes and cousins are expecting to see the line of succession, which would never can happen till King Salam is alive. They all know, King would never turn against his favourite son Mbs.

According to sources, family members are thinking of making Prince Ahmed bin Abdulaziz, 76, rightful King after the King’s death, as Abdulaziz is younger brother of the King Salman.

Prince Ahmed is one of ruling family’s member who opposes Mbs becoming crown prince since 2017. Ahmed also had criticized Saudi leadership outside a London residence while responding protesters, when he went for two and half months trip to aboard.

In the process of making King, there’s no automatic succession from father to eldest son, in fact their tradition indicated that the senior family with King together decides the worthy person to become the King.

Saudi advisors are already alarmed by the senior US officials that in such case, they would support Prince Ahmed to make him the King, who has served as deputy interior minister for about 40 years. Sources said that all are confident about Prince Ahmed and that he would try to restore the unity of family.

US officials said the White House is not going to get distanced itself from the crown prince, despite of Khashoggi’s murder ordered by MbS. Also, that they are annoyed with crown prince calling for alternatives weapons supplies from Russia from the defence ministry.

In a statement issued by White House, Trump said, “It could very well be that the crown prince had knowledge of this tragic event — maybe he did and maybe he didn’t!”
