Saudi Arabia’s minister of state for foreign affairs Adel Al-Jubeir, who is on a four-day official visit to India, has called on India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, amid speculations that OIC meeting could help ease tensions between India and Pakistan. Adel also met with India’s external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj.

According to TOI news reports, in a press release, the Indian government said Saudi Arabia and India should work together for “irreversible, verifiable and credible steps against all terrorists without any discrimination”.

Saudi and India have taken several significant steps in order to boost and bolster trade and investment ties, and to achieve at $100 billion investment from Saudi into India, announced during Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman’s visit to New Delhi.

During Adel-Swaraj meeting, cross-border terrorism was one of the main issues that was discussed, as well as with Swaraj reiterating that an “immediate irreversible and verifiable action to dismantle terror infrastructure is essential to fight the menace of terror”.

The government statement said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that terrorism remains one of the gravest threats to global peace and security. He underscored the importance of immediate, demonstrable, and irreversible action against terrorism by all concerned countries.”

“The prime minister took this opportunity to thank the crown prince for the invitation extended to India for addressing the OIC foreign ministers’ council as a guest of honour in Abu Dhabi earlier this week. He expressed the hope that this historical participation would contribute to attaining the common objectives of peace and progress,” the government added.
