Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman attends a session of the Shura Council in Riyadh

Saudi Arabia has on Monday said it hopes that Islamabad and New Delhi would resolve its escalated dispute peacefully following Pulwama terror attack and that its main objective is to “deescalate tensions” between the two neighbouring nations – India and Pakistan.

According to ANI news reports, while addressing a joint press conference in Islamabad, Saudi Arabia minister of state for foreign affairs Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir said, “Saudi Arabia’s objective is to try to deescalate tension between the neighbouring countries. I hope that both countries would be able to resolve the dispute between them peacefully.”

Adel’s remarks have come in the wake of a suicide bombing terror attack in India-occupied Kashmir – Pulwama terror attack – which claimed the lives of about 44 CRPF personnel who were targeted by reportedly, Pakistan backed and based Jaish e-Mohammed terrorist organization, in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir.

This development was very crucial as Saudi Arabia crown prince Mohammed bin Salman has arrived New Delhi on February 19 for bilateral talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Adel has also slammed Iran for accusing Islamabad of the recent terror attack on Iranian revolutionary guards and claimed Tehran itself is a “chief sponsor of terrorism”.

Adel said, “It was strange for the foreign ministers of the world’s chief sponsor of terrorism to accuse of engaging in terrorist activities.” He further accused Tehran of “sponsoring” terrorism “since the Iranian revolution of 1979”, further stating Tehran had “established terrorist groups such as Hezbollah in Lebanon and Houthis in Yemen”.

He added “Iran had implicated” in the terrorist attacks that had taken place in other countries, including the United States and Saudi Arabia.
