The White House has said on Friday ex-Fox News executive Bill Shine has resigned as the United States President Donald Trump’s assistant and communications director to join the Trump campaign.

In an official statement, White House spokesperson Sarah Sander said, “Assistant to the president and communications director Bill Shine offered his resignation to the president yesterday evening, and the president accepted.”

According to CNN news reports, Sanders, however, did not provide with Shine’s reasons for stepping down but stated he will continue to support the US president and his agenda and also, that he would be serving as a senior advisor to the US 2020 presidential election campaign.

Shine’s resignation comes amid accusations mounting over Trump’s dearness or closeness to the channel (network).

An article, this week’s New Yorker magazine has highlighted that Fox News was a “propaganda” for Trump and also alleged that the network in 2016 went so far as killing a story about Trump’s alleged affairs with Stormy Daniels, the adult-film actress.

US Democratic Party replied to it by banning the network from hosting any of its primary candidates, after published revelations which suggested it was a “propaganda” vehicle for Trump.

In a statement, Democratic National Committee chairman Tom Perez said, “Recent reporting in the New Yorker on the inappropriate relationship between President Trump, his administration and Fox News has led me to conclude that the network is not in a position to host a fair and neutral debate for our candidates.”

The New Yorker story detailed how the president has given dozens of interviews to Fox and repeated tweets claims that have been made over the popular network, owned by media magnate Rupert Murdoch.

Trump often refers to Fox’s rivals CNN and MSNBC, as well as The New York Times and The Washington Post, as “fake news.”
