An apex court of Sri Lanka has on Thursday, ruled out that the dissolution of parliament last month by Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena was “unconstitutional” and illegal, in a major setback of the constitutional crisis occurred due to Sirisena’s decision that has lead political crisis in the country.

According to news reports, Sri Lanka’s Supreme Court – a bench of seven judges said that no president can dissolve the parliament till the parliament does not completed is four and half years or terms.

Earlier, on October 26, Sirisena had suddenly sacked Ranil Wickremesinghe and appointed Mahinda Rajapaksa as newly elected prime minister of the country. Though, two time parliamentary voting was in favour of Wickremesinghe, Sirisena did not thought for a second to deny all the voting.

After the event, Sirisena has been likened to Hitler on Tuesday, by the former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe as he demanded to be reinstated, after Sri Lanka suffering from paralyzed political crisis.

Wickremesinghe claimed, “I am telling the president not to act like ‘Hitler’ who bypassed the constitution … We are not going to allow him to do that.”

Hoewever, on December 3, Sri Lankan apex court has issued an order against Rajapaksa and his government telling them to not act as the prime minister of the country and cabinet minister. In fact, court gave Rajapaksa a time period till December 12 to prove himself as legitimate.

The Supreme Court had on November 13, ruled out an order that the ruling of Sirisena is temporarily illegal and also halted the preparation regarding snap polls.
