A state of national emergency and mobilization was declared in Libya’s Sirte by the country’s government of national accord (GNA) on Monday, after Libya’s national army has moved forward to the southern outskirts of the city.

According to ANI news reports, all the military connected to the GNA has been called back to duty, which is backed by the United Nations.

In an official statement which was issued by the country’s security and protection force in Libya’s Sirte has noted that “any attack on the city will mean a declaration of war and its consequences will turn into a disaster”, according to Anadolu news agency reports.

Meanwhile, several social media users have posted some videos of armed men, loyal to the Libyan national army, reportedly led by Khalifa Haftar, the east Libya-based commander, patrolling at the southern region of Sirte city.

Since the dictator Muammar Al Gaddafi was captured and was killed in a battle of Sirte, Libya has been in a throes of the turmoil. Following this, the government of national accord (GNA) has formed considered as an interim measure in the nation under several terms of the Libyan Political Agreement, brokered by the United Nations.
