The Russian defence military has said on Friday, two of its fighter jets have accidentally collided with each other in mid-air over the sea of Japan.

In an official statement, the Russian military said that two Su-34 aircraft jets were performing its basic training flights when both of the air jets came into contact with each other and collided about 35 km (22 miles) from the shore in the sea of Japan.

According to news reported by ANI, the jet’s crew were ejected from the aircraft, and one of the pilots has been found on an inflatable raft in the sea, as the pilot was trying to flash the emergency light.

“On January 18, at 8.07 a.m. (Moscow time), while performing a planned training flight over the Sea of Japan, 35 kilometre from the coast, two Su-34 planes of the Far Eastern Air Defence Forces made contact in the air while manoeuvring,” according to the statement cited as by TASS news agency.

According to the Russian military’s statement, it said the strong winds were appearing to be problematic during the rescue operation but then they expect to reach the pilot as soon as possible.

However, it was not immediately clear where the two pilots were and also there were no immediate details about the fate of the jets. The military said the fighter jets were not at all carrying any kind of missiles.
