India’s external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj, who is on a two-day official tour, is scheduled to pay a visit to the Maldives from March 17 to 18 at the invitation of Maldives’ foreign minister Abdullah Shahid.

According to news reports, Sushma Swaraj will be accompanied by foreign secretary Vijay Gokhale, including other senior officials. During her visit, she will conduct a bilateral meeting with her Male counterpart Shahid.

She will also hold top-level delegation meeting with Mariya Ahmed Didi, the minister of defence, minister of national planning and infrastructure Mohamed Aslam, minister of finance Ibrahim Ameer, minister of transport and civil aviation Aishath Nahula, minister of environment Dr Hussain Rasheed Hassan, minister of economic development Fayyaz Ismail and minister of arts and culture and heritage Yumna Maumoon.

Swaraj will on March 18 take a call on the speaker of the parliament his excellency and the president of the Republic of Maldives his excellency Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar took it to twitter and said: “During her visit, both country’s leaders will review the entire gamut of the bilateral relations and further discuss the programme of action. EAM @SushmaSwaraj will be paying a visit to Male, the Maldives from 17-18 March 2019 at the invitation of Foreign Minister @abdulla_shahid.”
