Siti Alsyan, an Indonesian woman charged with the murder of Kim Jong-Nam, half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un, was discharged on Monday as the prosecutor withdrew the murder charges against the convicted Indonesian woman.

According to ANI news reports, the Malaysian court’s ruling has come as a surprise to the defendant Siti Alsyan who has told reporters that after prosecutor withdrew the charges, she was really very “shocked” to be free.

Along with a Vietnamese woman named Doan Thi Huong, Siti was accused of poisoning Kim’s half-brother Kim Jong-Nam in February 2017 by rubbing a VX nerve agent over Nam’s face at an airport in Kuala Lumpur.

The estranged Nam had died within the 20 minutes after Siti allegedly applied poison classified as a weapon of mass destruction.

However, both the women have pleaded not guilty to the alleged murder charge levelled against them.

Lawyers of both two women, Siti and Huong, has claimed that the both were tricked by a group of North Korean agents into a believing that they were kind of taking part in some reality TV show.

However, the prosecutor has provided the court with no reasons for his reported withdrawal of the charges against Siti Alsyan, according to reports.
