India’s external minister Sushma Swaraj has said on Friday that the fight against terrorism is not against any religion but also underlined that the nations providing terrorist shelter and funds, must be asked to dismantle the infrastructure of terrorism based in their soil, referring to Pakistan.

According to ANI news reports, while addressing the 57-nation Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) meeting, she said those indulged in terrorism are resorting to “distortion of religion” and providing names to menace to justify it.

While delivery her speech, Swaraj said: “senseless terrorist violence” was leading to the destruction of lives, destabilising regions and putting the world at peril as its “lethality” was “toll rising” and increasing.

She said, “The fight against terrorism is not a confrontation against and can’t be against any religion. Just as Islam means peace, none of the 99 names of Allah means violence. Similarly, every religion stands for peace.”

Meantime, she underlined that “we much tell the states which provide shelter and funding to terrorism to dismantle the infrastructure of terrorism, like camps based in those countries”, adding that “this menace could not be fought, only through military, intelligence or diplomatic means”.

She also said India forged “deep bonds of friendship and close partnerships” with these nations at OIC and said, “The OIC has a huge responsibility and a great opportunity to lift humanity to a higher level of peace and prosperity, and to make this planet a better place, not just for your people, but for rest of the world.”
