Syrian aerial defence system has on Tuesday, shot down an air missile of Israel near its capital Damascus, while Israel claimed its aircraft was protecting itself from an anti-aircraft fire.

According to news reported by Syrian SANA news agency, it said the air defences “intercepted hostile missiles launched by the Israeli warplanes” from the Lebanese territories.

The report further added that many of them were shot down before reaching to their targets near Damascus. During the incident three soldiers were injured with an ammunition depot getting damaged.

Earlier too, Israel has carried out such bombing in Syria against what they called are Iranian military targets and an advanced arms deliveries to the Iranian-backed Lebanese group “Hezbollah”, which both are the rivals of the Jewish state. Many of them have been operationalized in the areas near to the south of Damascus.

A spokesperson of Israeli military has declined to a request for comment over the reports of the strike in Syria.

However, the report further added in its statement: “An aerial defence system went off against an anti-aircraft missile launched from Syria. No damage or injuries were reported.”

The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also reported “an Israeli raid”.

Rami Abdel Rahman said, “Missiles fired from Israeli planes targeted … arms depots southwest and south of Damascus that belong to Hezbollah or Iranian forces.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has pledged to not let Tehran (supporter of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad) from establishing its military in the war-torn country Israel.

According to experts, Israel are greatly affect by the announcement made by the United States President Donald Trump to pullout its troops from Syria, as now it would leave areas open to Iran and its allies in order to develop their military bases and capacity.
