The United States President Donald Trump claimed on Tuesday, the talks held with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping on the issue of “trade imbalance” are going on “very well”.

According to news reported by Reuters, in a tweet on January 8, Trump tweeted: “Talks with China are going on very well!”

However, Trump’s statement did not disclose any of their meeting’s further detail regarding the measures which both the leaders may have taken to ease the trade war between the US and China, world’s two largest economic countries.

Trump’s remark came days after China announced that both the countries were close to marking a deal on the ongoing “trade imbalance” between the two countries.

According to South China Morning Post, the trade talks between the two nations are being carried on in Beijing and quoted the US officials as saying that the discussion would be continued to the third consecutive day on January 9.

On Friday, Trump had said, “I think we will make a deal with China. We have a massive trade negotiation going on with China. President Xi Jinping is very much involved. So am I. We’re dealing at the highest levels and we’re doing very well.”

A US official on Wednesday said, the US trade delegations in Beijing were “wrapping up” meetings with the Chinese officials and will soon return back after a “good few days” to the US later on Wednesday.

Asian stocks markets expressed their concerns after unplanned third-day talks between the two nations in Beijing. Amid signs of progress over the trade war issue including imports of the US farms and energy commodities, the negotiation gets extended by a day.

However, Trump has said to raise tariff to 25 percent from 10 percent of Chinese import worth $200 billion, if two nations failed to reach out a deal by March 2.
