The United States President Donald Trump has on Saturday asked China “to immediately remove” all tariffs on the US agricultural products including pork, beef, etc.

According to BBC news reports, in a tweet, the US president said he has made this request because “we are moving along nicely with trade discussion”. Trump is now planning a summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping at Mr Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.

Trump has delayed the tariff deadline scheduled on March 1 over Chinese good due to progress in trade talks between both countries’ team of negotiators. He has long complained about China’s trading practices and has also imposed tariffs estimated more than $250 billion on Chinese goods.

In response, China has placed tariffs on $110 billion of the US products and accused the US of starting “the largest trade war in economic history”.

In a tweet, Trump wrote: “I have asked China to immediately remove all Tariffs on our agricultural products (including beef, pork, etc.) based on the fact that we are moving along nicely with Trade discussions…”

He continued tweeting: “….and I did not increase their second traunch of Tariffs to 25% on March 1st. This is very important for our great farmers – and me!”

Last month, Trump has said both the countries were “very very close” to inking a new trade deal, stating that they had made some “substantial progress” following the Washington summit between both countries’ negotiation officials.
