The United States President Donald Trump has on Friday tried to defend his decision of pullout of American troops from both war-torn nations – Afghanistan and Syria – with a saying – “it is now time to start coming home after spending money for many years wisely” in both the regions.

The US president took it to twitter and wrote: “I inherited a total mess in Syria and Afghanistan, the “Endless Wars” of unlimited spending and death. During my campaign, I said, very strongly, that these wars must finally end. We spend $50 Billion a year in Afghanistan and have hit them so hard that we are now talking peace …”

Trump’s statement came a day after the Senate republicans-backed majority leader Mitch McConnell voted on Thursday for an amendment in a bid to reserve Trump’s order to pull out the US forces from the Syrian region, also a check over the future plans to withdraw its troops from Afghanistan.

He continued writing: “… after 18 long years. Syria was loaded with ISIS until I came along. We will soon have destroyed 100% of the Caliphate but will be watching them closely. It is now time to start coming home and, after many years, spending our money wisely. Certain people must get smart!”

On Thursday Al-Jazeera reported that the resolution had called on the Donald Trump’s administration in order to “conduct a review of the military and diplomatic strategies in Syria and Afghanistan” and also to “set conditions” defeating the Islamic State (ISIS) and al-Qaeda.

McConnell was quoted by the Washington Post on Thursday as saying: “I believe the threats remain. ISIS and al-Qaeda have yet to be defeated, and American national security interest requires continued commitment to our mission there.”

Last year, the US president has announced the withdrawal of around 7,000 American troops from Afghanistan.
