The United States President Donald Trump has canceled his official delegation’s trip to the World Economic Forum going to be held in Switzerland next week, amid partial government shutdown as it enters its 28th day, the White House press secretary Sarah Sanders, in a press release, said on Thursday.

According to Sputnik news reports, Sarah Sanders, in a press release, wrote: “Out of consideration for the 800,000 great American workers not receiving pay and to ensure his team can assist as needed, President Trump has canceled his Delegation’s trip to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.”

Reports say that the White House has said on Tuesday, the US treasury secretary Steven Mnuchin would have headed to Switzerland for the Forum after the US president canceled his trip to there.

In a tweet, Trump wrote: “Because of the Democrats intransigence on Border Security and the great importance of Safety for our Nation, I am respectfully canceling my very important trip to Davos, Switzerland for the World Economic Forum. My warmest regards and apologies to the @WEF.”

For the policy coordination, other members of the US delegations would have included trade representative Robert Lighthizer, commerce secretary Wilbur Ross, US secretary of state Mike Pompeo, Chris Liddell, who holds the position of assistant to the president, and deputy chief of staff for policy coordination.

On Thursday, the partial government shutdown entered its 27th day as Trump and congressional Democrats continued to be at odds over new spending bills.

On that day, Trump has informed house speaker Nancy Pelosi, in a letter, that her official visit to Afghanistan, Egypt, and Brussels will be delayed due to an ongoing shutdown of the US federal government and until it is resolved. Trump’s letter came a day after Pelosi informed Trump in a letter that she is going to delay Trump’s scheduled state of the union address in Congress.

The series of cancellations and delaying of the high-profile official trips comes amid the ever-longest partial government shutdown in the US history.
