Washington DC, July 5: United States President Donald Trump on Thursday praised the American military during delivering his Independence Day speech in Washington DC in front of Lincoln Memorial amid a military strength display.

According to Al-Jazeera news reports, Trump said, “We celebrate our history, our people, and the heroes who proudly defend our flag – the brave men and women of the United States military!”

The US president became the very first American president to deliver a speech on Independence Day in over 70 years as tens of hundreds of people of both opposition and his supporters summoned at the Lincoln Memorial to commemorate the nation’s independence declaration on July 4, 1776, from Britain.

In a tweet, White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham said, “Incredible to see all in attendance to hear our @POTUS speak & celebrate our great nation’s Independence Day!”

Inspired by an exhibition of the French military strength, Trump witnessed by addressing Bastille Day in 2017 in Paris, the president turned the Independence Day event into a US military commemoration.

The event was boasted from flying helicopters and military aircraft, as well as, a collection of the armoured convoys, including Bradley armoured vehicle and Abrams tanks.

Trump’s event speech was centred over the American military strength, heaping praise on military’s each branch, persistently approaching the armed forces and history as example of unity and strength to which citizens should aim to.

Trump said “there will be nothing that American cannot do” as long as they remain loyal to the nation’s history and “never stop fighting for a better future”. He also vowed to plant the US flag on Mars.
