The United States President Donald Trump has told the US state governors on Sunday, at the White House that he was happy as long as North Korea continues to halt its nuclear weapons testing.

According to Reuters news reports, while speaking on the eve of his departure from Washington heading to Vietnam for his second summit with his North Korean counterpart Kim Jong-Un, the US president also said he believed that he saw eye to eye with North leader and that they developed “a very, very good relationship”.

Trump and Kim are scheduled to meet in Hanoi, Vietnam, on Wednesday and Thursday, after eights months of their first summit in Singapore last year, where both had pledged to work together towards the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula.

While stating that he would not rush for new US sanctions on Seoul, Trump said, “I’m not in a rush. I don’t want to rush anybody. I just don’t want any testing. As long as there’s no testing, we’re happy.”

Donald Trump’s administration had pressed over North to give up its nuclear weapon programs, which when combined with its nuclear missile capabilities, poses a threat to the US before it can expect any concessions.

Though, in recent days, Trump has signalled a possible de-escalation of tension with N Korea, stating that he would love to be able to remove sanctions if there are meaningful progress over denuclearization.
