The second historic summit between North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un and the United States President Donald Trump will likely take place in Vietnam, a source revealed having knowledge about the matter.
According to the current plan for Trump-Kim second summit which has been scheduled to take place in the last week of February, is going to be held in Da Nang, the coastal city of Vietnam, the CNN has quoted a senior administration official and a second source as saying. The summit-plan has been finalized, the source added, according to The Hills news reports.
Moreover, the source added saying that the US president’s agenda during his meeting was still not concrete. On January, the White House has announced the second meeting between Trump and Kim following the discussion with North Korea’s negotiator Kim Yong Chol over nuclear talks.
Ahead of the second Washington-Pyongyang summit, the US’ special representative for N Korea will be traveling on February to Korea’ Seoul in order to hold a conference with his counterparts leaders from both South and North Korea. US envoy Stephen Biegun is set to hold a meeting with South Korean special envoy Lee Do-hoon in Seoul.
In an official statement, the US department of state noted on Friday: “Biegun will also have to follow up meetings with his North Korean counterpart to discuss next steps to advance our objective of the final fully verifies denuclearization of North Korean and steps to make further progress on all the commitments the two leaders made in Singapore.”
The statement came after Biegun assured North Korean that Washington has expressed no interest in a regime change during its address at Stanford University on Thursday.
Biegun said, “We are not going to invade North Korea,” further urging to declare all of its nuclear and missile programmes. However, US envoy also said the US had “contingencies” prepared in a case negotiation dell out through with North Korea.
