While confirmed remarks from the US president, KCNA stated both the leaders agreed to “keep in close touch in the future”, as well as, to “resume and push forward productive dialogues for making a new breakthrough in the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula and in the bilateral relations”.

“I want to thank Chairman Kim for something else; when I put out the social media notification, if he didn’t show up the press was going to make me look very bad so you made us both look good and I appreciate it,” Trump added.

Trump was in South Korea to hold talks with President Moon Jae-in about the stalled nuclear talks and secheduled to visit the demilitarized zone (DMZ).

In a tweet, Trump said, “After some very important meetings, including my meeting with President Xi of China, I will be leaving Japan for South Korea (with President Moon). While there, if Chairman Kim of North Korea sees this, I would meet him at the Border/DMZ just to shake his hand and say Hello(?)!”
