United States President Donald Trump has on Friday ordered the withdrawal of additional “large-scale” sanctions on North Korea.

According to ANI news reports, Trump’s move was largely seen as his bid to keep the nuclear talks on track with North Korea over denuclearization of Pyongyang peninsula, after the Hanoi summit failure between Trump and his North Korean counterpart Kim Jong-Un held last month.

In a tweet, the US president wrote: “It was announced today by the U.S. Treasury that additional large scale Sanctions would be added to those already existing Sanctions on North Korea. I have today ordered the withdrawal of those additional Sanctions!”

However, without revealing any details over what exact sanctions Trump was talking to be removed, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said, “President Trump likes Chairman Kim and he doesn’t think these sanctions will be necessary.”

Though it was still unclear about which sanctions were to be removed, the US treasury department recently targeted two shipping entities of China for assisting North Korea to skirt United Nations-imposed sanctions.

Trump and Kim have held their second historic summit in Vietnam last month aimed at denuclearization of the Korean peninsula, but however, the summit yield no progress over both leaders’ intentions.
