United States President Donald Trump has on Tuesday issued the second veto of his tenure, dismissing US Congress resolution to put an end to Washington involvement in the Yemen War.

According to ANI news reports, Trump has designated the Congress resolution as a “dangerous attempt to weaken” his constitutional authorities.

In a letter to the US Senate, Trump said, “I am returning herewith without my approval … A joint resolution that purports to direct the president to remove the United States Armed Forces from Hostilities in or affecting the Republic of Yemen.”

The US president outlined: “This resolution is unnecessary, dangerous attempt to weaken my constitutional authorities, endangering the lives of American citizens and brave service member, both today and in the future.”

Tuesday’s veto marks the second time, the US president has vetoed any resolution passed by the Congress during his presidential tenure. Earlier, Trump had vetoed a joint resolution passed by the Congress which revoked the president’s declaration of a state of national emergency at the border along with the Mexican border.

The US is among the Saudi Arabia-led coalition, which has been engaged in the Yemen civil war since March 2015.

On April 4, the US House of Representatives had passed a resolution to put an end to military support for Saudi-led civil war in Yemen which received votings 247-175 in favour.

The White House also had issued a statement to threaten to veto the resolution and asserted that it has raised “serious constitutional concerns” and was based over an “erroneous premise”, according to news reports.
