Turkey has punished and fined two last television channels critical of the Turkish government on Wednesday, alleged for insulting Turkish president over on-air comments on its TV channel and encouraging civil disobedience.

According to news reports, Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTUK) official said a talks show aired on Halk TV will now get suspended temporarily by RTUK, over there alleged comments made by an actor Mujdat Gezen and Metic Akpinar.

A Turkish prosecutor had on Wednesday, launched an investigation over both men and asked Gezen and Akpinar to make an official statement regarding their alleged role, in which they both denied the accusations and charges of insulting Turkish president and encouraging disobedience.

According to law in Turkey, insulting Turkish president considers as a crime.

RTUK official said three future broadcast of prime news programs aired on Fox TV of Turkey were also being suspended after alleged comments by a news anchor calling for a protest against the hike in natural gas price.

In an annual study, Turkey remains to be world’s worst offender against the press freedom with at least 68 journalists fined and imprisoned for an anti-state charges.

Reports said Turkey’s western allies voiced concerns over Turkish rule and their continue crackdown over journalist, rights activists and academics, and has criticized Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for muzzling dissent and increasing his own power.
